"Society does an incredibly good job of showing us results, but unfortunately they do a terrible job of showing us reality.
Somebody spends 20 years of their life grinding away all day every day, and when they finally succeed, the media crowns it an overnight success that came out of nowhere.
Then we all say they got lucky, and we pray to whatever god we believe in that hopefully one day we'll be blessed with the same kind of luck.
But unfortunately, or fortunately depending how you look at it, that luck is never going to come your way. Not in a billion years.
Because that kind of luck doesn't exist.
Let me digress for a minute and then I'll get back to my point...
Luck is not something that is given to you. It is something that is created by you. And we all have an unlimited amount of power when it comes to how much luck we can create for ourselves.
We've all heard that success is what happens when preparation meets opportunity, but that simple saying is missing the most important part of the equation... LUCK!!!
You have to be lucky to be successful, no two ways about it. But the luck you need to succeed shows up in another form. One that is controllable by almost every human on the planet.
In order to be successful, the preparation you've done has to match up appropriately with whatever opportunity that's being presented to you. That is your luck.
Most people have endless opportunities fall in their lap every day, but unfortunately they aren't prepared to capitalize on 99% of the ones that do, because they haven't done the work.
I wouldn't be very lucky if somebody offered me the lead spot in a Cirque Du Soleil show, because the preparation that I've done in my life doesn't match up in any way, shape, or form with the opportunity.
I'm prepared to be their water boy, and that's probably about it.
That being said, my chances of being lucky are probably higher than most, only because I've done more preparation than most.
The more preparation that you do, the better the chances are that you will be able to take advantage of life's opportunities.
I'll use a super basic example to demonstrate my point...
If you had a fruit stand, one of the first decisions you would need to make is what kinds of fruit you would stock up on. You have many choices, though it would be wise to align somewhat with the demands of the marketplace.
Now, if you decided that the only fruit you were going to stock up on was apples, who would come buy your fruit? Obviously only people that want apples!!!
But what if you decided to go a little bigger and stock up on apples, oranges, and strawberries?
Now you have the ability to capitalize on the "opportunity" presented to you by anybody who wants apples, oranges, or strawberries. You just increased your ability to get lucky!!!
So how many different types of fruit should you stock in order to give yourself the best shot at successfully finding an "opportunity" and getting "lucky"?
As many different types as you possibly can!!! You want every person in town to know that when they want fruit, you're the person who they bring that opportunity to.
So now I'll get to the point of my digression...
The fruit is a metaphor for your knowledge and your skills. How many different problems can you solve for people? That's how many different opportunities you have the ability to get "lucky" with.
All business is about simply solving problems for another human. You solve my problem, and I pay you. Then you can go get your problems solved by somebody else.
Let's say I needed the following...
• A Website Built
• A New Electrical Outlet Put In
• The Brakes Changed In My Car
• A Documentary Filmed
• Some Graphic Design Done
• A Flair Bartender For My Dog's Bar Mitzva.
How many of those opportunities does your preparation match up with? That's how much of my money you get.
I could capitalize on every one of those opportunities because they match the preparation that I've done in my life.
This is where the digression ends and I finally get to my point...
I spent an insane amount of time over the past 20 years "preparing" myself for where I am today.
Others were vacationing, and I was working. They were partying, I was sitting at the bar reading a book. They were enjoying the weekend, I was enjoying two extra days of work so that I could get further ahead.
My house looks like I live in a Barnes & Noble, and I've spent thousands of hours in seminars, workshops, courses, and online training. The financial investment of that education was equivalent to Harvard, and would be considered insane by most people.
But I invested in myself... so that I could create myself.
You will never find yourself. So stop looking.
You are the creator of your own life. So make a plan, design a strategy, and start creating. It takes nothing but a disgusting amount of work and effort to become successful.
THAT is the point of this "reality show". I don't want to just show you the results. I want to show you the journey. The step by step process of doing something that actually matters.
Because I know that if you watch the journey, then you'll believe in the possibility of success. Not the possibility of my success, but the possibility of your own.
When you have the ability to watch somebody just like you go through all of the ups and downs, the sacrifices, and the pain and suffering that it takes to become successful, you'll begin to realize that there is no magic.
There is no secret to success that's being hidden from you. There are most definitely things that you don't know, but unfortunately nothing's being hidden from you.
I say unfortunately because I know that half the population's excuses just went out the window with that mind-blowing fact. It's always so much easier to blame somebody else for our position in life, but it's not very productive.
The funny thing is, that the more that you learn, the more you realize that you don't know. But that's okay, because you only need to learn what you want to know.
I said in a book a few years ago that... "I humbly admit the fact that I know nothing, but I proudly acknowledge the fact that I can learn anything."
Understanding this fact truly makes you realize how limitless your potential really is. You can accomplish almost anything you could possibly imagine, as long as you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn step by step how to make it happen.
Most people won't put in the work, which makes me incredibly sad. Not sad for them, but sad for us. Human potential is the most wasted resource on the planet.
Think about all of the most successful people who ever lived. We all have that potential within us. The only difference is that they went and actually did something with it.
Now imagine, if instead of having only 1% of human beings trying to harness their full potential, what if it was 10% or 20%. How much better would the world be?
I want my journey to inspire you to action. I want it to free your soul and allow your authenticity the freedom to shine through.
Don't live the life others want you to live, and don't settle for less just because that's what society is telling you to do. Go and do what you want to do with your one life.
I want you to understand that the life that you truly want to live is nothing but a choice away. You simply choose to be somebody that matters, and then design and live your life accordingly.
That's exactly what I did, and I hope you enjoy watching the journey!!!
